GCEA Poster - "Kings of Print"

This is my submission for the gcea poster design contest. This contest is held for all secondary schools in america. Im glad to share this design got 2nd Place!
I Had several Ideas for this years Poster, But something about the designs of playing cards got stuck in my head. The intricate Design on the back took A LOT of time but I'm glad i put all that work into it.
Its main features are the Gutenberg press and the rolling printing press. Designing the corner first then duplicating and rotating the result, carefully lining up the edges to be perfect.
The scope of the design was inspired by the backs of playing cards and the faces being kings / queens. The main color focus being CMYK because theme was print and what goes into making the various colors.
I wanted to make a fan shape out of the cards, The hardest part making the bottom layers seem like they still are the top layer. The very back layer is the only difference in color, After a lot of thought i put the green you'd find at card tables. I added a very feint texture to it to make it feel like fabric.
Finally the title, I chose to keep the title at the bottom of the page, as the top design being so intricate and small it would be difficult to read any text over top of it. Placing the title at the bottom also helps fill out the bottom section.
Overall I had one goal when i started this project. I am going to win. And even though it got 2nd place, I still consider that a win!
